JOB TITLE: Planning Manager
Location: Dulles, VA
GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for managing all transportation and urban
planning functions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. in urban, community, or transportation planning (from a public
affairs, geography of planning specific program). Master in transportation
or urban planning preferred. A minimum of ten years of progressive
experience in the public or private sector, working with local or regional
governments. AICP preferred or obtainable within one year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Ability to supervise a staff executing a
wide variety of work tasks including traffic impact studies,
transportation corridor studies, site plan review, geographical
information systems applications, project and program management,
evacuation route planning, comprehensive planning, neighborhood planning,
and survey applications. The manager must be proficient in proposal and
report writing, oral presentations, personnel management, and billing
procedures.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
Coordinate closely with disaster services, land development / survey,
traffic engineering, and other transportation functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position will reside mainly in the Dulles office, but will likely
coordinate with staff located in other offices.

Senior Planner (shared with Disaster Services), Senior Transportation
Planner, Transportation Planner 2, Transportation Planner 1, Planner 2
(shared with Disaster Services), Planner 1, and Planning Intern.
